nothing runs on page load.<\/li>\n<li>A small cookie settings button on every page, so visitors can change or withdraw their choice at any time.\nWithdrawing consent removes the tracking cookies the site set and reloads the page.<\/li>\n<li>A Cookie Policy page is created for you when the plugin is activated, ready for you to review.<\/li>\n<li>Works with page caching - the choice is read in the visitor's browser, not on the server.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h4>Blocking your scripts<\/h4>\n\n<p>Paste tracking code (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel and so on) into Settings &gt; Cookie Consent &gt; Scripts, under\nthe right category. It is added to every page, but only runs once the visitor accepts that category.<\/p>\n\n<p>Scripts already in your theme can be blocked by changing the script tag to:<\/p>\n\n<pre><code>&lt;script type=\"text\/plain\" data-cd-category=\"analytics\"&gt; ... &lt;\/script&gt;\n<\/code><\/pre>\n\n<p>using <code>analytics<\/code> or <code>marketing<\/code> as the category.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Changing the choice later<\/h4>\n\n<p>As well as the floating button, you can add a button anywhere with the shortcode <code>[cd_cookie_settings]<\/code>,\nlink a menu item to <code>#cd-cookie-settings<\/code>, or give any element the class <code>cd-cookie-settings<\/code>.<\/p>\n\n<h4>For developers<\/h4>\n\n<ul>\n<li><code>window.cdCookieConsent.hasConsent( 'analytics' )<\/code>, <code>.getConsent()<\/code> and <code>.showPreferences()<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li>Document events <code>cd-cookie-consent:ready<\/code> and <code>cd-cookie-consent:change<\/code> (the choice is in <code>event.detail.consent<\/code>).<\/li>\n<li>Filters <code>cd_cookie_consent_categories<\/code> and <code>cd_cookie_consent_clear_cookies<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li>Colours can be changed with CSS variables such as <code>--cd-cc-accent<\/code> and <code>--cd-cc-bg<\/code>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>A Pro add-on adds banner position and colour options, and holds back YouTube videos and Google Maps until visitors consent.<\/p>\n\n<!--section=installation-->\n<ol>\n<li>Upload the plugin zip from Plugins &gt; Add New &gt; Upload Plugin.<\/li>\n<li>Activate the plugin. A Cookie Policy page is created and linked from the banner.<\/li>\n<li>Go to Settings &gt; Cookie Consent to add your tracking scripts and adjust the wording.<\/li>\n<li>Review the Cookie Policy page and list the cookies your website uses.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<!--section=faq-->\n<dl>\n<dt id=\"does%20this%20make%20my%20website%20compliant%3F\"><h3>Does this make my website compliant?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>It gives you the tools the ICO expects - opt-in consent, an equally easy way to refuse, and a way to change\nyour mind - but you still need to block every non-essential script and describe your cookies accurately.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"what%20happens%20to%20the%20cookie%20policy%20page%20if%20i%20delete%20the%20plugin%3F\"><h3>What happens to the Cookie Policy page if I delete the plugin?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>The page is kept, as it's your content.
